The anatomy of a fitted wardrobe

What separates a cabinet-maker's wardrobe from a flat-pack one. A short tour of the details that quietly do the work.

Most of what makes a fitted wardrobe luxurious is invisible by the time you walk in.

It is the carcass behind the door. It is the height of the hanging rail above the floor. It is the scribe that follows a wall that is three degrees out of true. It is the soft-close mechanism that lets a door shut with a whisper.

We think of a wardrobe as a small architectural commission. Every dimension is drawn. Every fixing is specified. Every transition between materials is considered before a single panel is cut.

When the room is finished, none of that work shows. That is the work.
